Masco Cut’s 160 Jobs in Spite of “Taxpayer Funded Subsidies”

The huge “tax cuts” and “taxpayer funded subsidies” Gov. Snyder and the Republican controlled legislature gave to their big businesses buddies isn’t enough to keep companies from eliminating jobs and or leaving the state such as Pulte Homes did with their move to Atlanta last year.

When you balance those cuts for big business and replace that lost revenue on the backs of Michigan’s taxpaying citizens you take away their disposable income as to spend on these same companies products.

MIGOP “Tactics” as to get “Their” Chosen Candidates Elected

I’m sure this is going on all over the state as to stifle the Grassroots, Conservatives and Tea Party that dare challenge the establishment but this one is in my own backyard. We all have seen how the MIGOP establishment has gone after and targeted two conservatives Justin Amash and Kerry Bentivolio.

I had seen in my facebook notifications that one of my facebook friends liked a page so I investigated. To my surprise and shock I couldn’t believe that many of my conservative friends would like a “yes man” for Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville for State Rep.

The MIGOP establishment has a plan in place as to get their chosen candidates elected and will go to any and all lengths as to make sure this happens. Let’s take a close look at just one example in my district how they are going about this.

State Rep. Dale Zorn was first elected in November 2010 to the Michigan House to represent the residents of Monroe County for a two year term this after being a county commissioner for the past 20 years. Has he ever worked in the private sector? How many years is enough of feeding at the public trough?

Now with Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville being term limited Mr. Zorn will forgo his final two years of eligibility as a House Rep. to pursue the seat in the Senate being vacated by Mr. Richardville his life long buddy. Hmmm…

Couple that with another Richardville “yes man” former Monroe County Republican Party “puppet” chairman and current county commissioner Jason Shepard being “anointed” to run for the State Rep. seat being vacated by current State Rep. Dale Zorn.

Oh the webs they weave in the political arena here in Michigan. Word from inside Lansing’s Capitol from a very reliable source is that Mr. Zorn can’t cast a vote without contacting Party leadership as to see how he should vote! Is this representing the people who elected him or the Party? I believe the answer to that is clear.

This candidate Jason Sheppard has consistently “name dropped” and “bragged” about having dinners with Governor Snyder and his wife along with Senate Majority leader Richardville and his wife (before their much publicized divorce) at several establishment Party functions so this should show that this candidate is establishment all the way and if elected will represent Party over citizens.

I contacted all my facebook friends who is shown to have liked Jason Sheppard for State Rep. and not one of them said they liked his page! Hmmm…Something bad wrong here folks!

Amelia Island in Florida is the gathering “Hot Spot” for the Political Elitist, Lobbyists, Big Labor, and the Republican leadership that all use this “chic” location to collaborate defeating conservatives and the Tea Party Patriots.

The Republican Main Street Partnership’s offshoot “Main Street Advocacy” is one such group that host these events at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island.

The “Main Street Partnership.” is just one of the D.C.-based outfits started by lobbyist Steve LaTourette.

The group has made it its mission to come after constitutional conservatives and to back big-government puppets. As late as 2007, Mitt Romney was a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership.

Why would Republican leaders speak at a fundraiser for a super PAC whose goal it is to take out conservatives? Why would they lend their names to a group that’s in cahoots with Big Labor? Remember those “secret” meetings that Governor Snyder had with the Union Bosses leading up to the passage of RTW? Hmmm…

I would have liked to been a gnat on a fly’s ass during those private meetings as to hear just what kinds of “deals” were struck with the Union Bosses! Can you say Bailout for Detroit? What else?

Steve LaTourette, a former congressman and friend of John Boehner, runs the “Republican Main Street Partnership”. Note the word “Republican.”

As the left-wing Talking Points Memo reported a month ago, LaTourette and his Main Street Partnership have created an affiliated SuperPAC called “Defending Main Street PAC.” Along with the Chamber of Commerce and Republican Leaders, the Main Street Partnership wants to take out troublesome conservatives.

Baker Pig Farm – Bundy Cattle Ranch “Government Out Of Control”

What happens when an overreaching state or federal government entity hassles a former military veteran just trying to make a living for his family? They use the power of big government as to shut down the family farm.

My fellow citizens of Michigan and around these United States this has to and must stop and stop now! Just look at what is going on in Nevada with that cattle farmer as but another example.

Politicians at both the state and federal levels and in this case are the ones that have gone “hog wild” aka big government out of control.

The two cases Mark Baker of Bakers Green Acres and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources along with Cliven Bundy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management bring to light the need for a less intrusive government at both state and federal levels.

If attorney general Bill Shuette’s office wins this appeal it will have an adverse effect on all small business family hog farmers, including Baker and Hunting preserves in Michigan. When you have special interest and lobbyist such as the Michigan Pork Producers Association dictating public policy through our elected officials in this state “Michigan Citizens we have a Problem.

It’s our state and it’s our country and “We the People” are supposed to be in charge! It’s high time that “we” put a stop to this and the only way I know is to “vote them all out” of office and elect constitutional minded representatives who will shrink the size and scope of this overblown big government and strictly adhere to the constitution.

The fact of the matter this isn’t about Democrats or Republicans it’s about both that are a huge part of the problem. If we continue to fall for their game of one political party is better than the other we are doomed.

I would argue that both major parties have become just one in the same battling in public that they are different while in fact they are political allies behind the scenes that battle for power and control as to guide “their” agenda and not ours or what’s best for state and country.

DNR to Appeal Judge’s Ruling on Baker’s Green Acre’s Case

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources said Friday it is seeking to appeal an Upper Peninsula judge’s ruling that overturned a ban on certain breeds of pigs. In this case we all know who the real pigs are!

The state attorney general’s office (Bill Schuette) filed papers asking the Michigan Court of Appeals to take the case, arguing that Circuit Judge Thomas Solka of Marquette County made errors in his March 24 decision. The election season is near cast your vote wisely my friends!

Is Governor Snyder’s Use of the Term “Michiganders” Discriminatory to Women? Michiganian is the “official” term for a person from Michigan, according to the U.S. Government Printing Office.

The Michigan Historical Center also uses Michiganian, and it is the term of choice in the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections, a 40 volume collection of reminiscences, transcripts of historical documents and other historical material about Michigan life dating back to the 1870s.

The term goose applies to the female in particular while gander applies to the male in particular. So when Governor Snyder uses the term Michigander he is essentially leaving woman out of the equation and is discriminatory towards Michigan women. Therefore the correct term as to be all inclusive including both male and female citizens should be Michiganians.

The number of women serving in the Michigan state Legislature’s “Good ‘Ole Boy’s Club” has fallen to a 20-year low. Michigan is ranked 36th in the nation in terms of female representation in the Legislature. Even though women represent 51% of the state’s population, only 18.9% of the legislators in Lansing are female.

Is it time for Michigan’s Legislature to go Part-Time?

Full-Time Hypocrisy Just Say “YES” to a Part-Time Legislature

The taxpayers of Michigan would be better “served” with a part-time legislature and it would be more in line with the “Pure Michigan” theme. Michigan legislators worked (in session) only 81 days during 2012 and 100 days in 2011; pay them accordingly.

The way it’s set up now only works for the legislators, the powerful “lobbyist” and “special interest” that contribute to their campaign coffers. Essentially public policy is set by these groups over “We the People” who have elected them to represent and serve us. The public be damned.

The idea that they are working for us just does not cut it. The only thing they are working on is getting re-elected so that they don’t lose the gravy train they already enjoy along with their spot at the public “feeding” trough.

Many legislators constantly complain about people receiving welfare benefits without knowing their situations by claiming they are lazy and refuse to look for work. These legislators are in session for less than half of the 365 days a year, and yet receive all the benefits of a full-time worker.

They are nothing more than elected welfare recipients, getting all the benefits from the taxpayers in this state without having to show up for work.

Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce advocates for some semblance of legislative reform, especially in light of the fact that far and away the majority of states across the nation accomplish their work on a part-time basis and have for years.

Since they were able to pass 282 bills (that the majority of us didn’t want) in three weeks of the lame-duck session, three to four weeks is all they need to work. Cut their pay 75% with no more free public-paid health care. Maybe then the citizens of Michigan will finally get their money’s worth.

Feel the pain – it’s time for the part-timers to become part-time. Our illustrious Legislature is overdue to become part-time. Since they act like part-timers and meet so infrequently, let’s make them what they are: part-time! While we’re at it, reduce that over inflated salary to part-time status as well. It’s time these politicians feel the same pain we do with reduced incomes, higher taxes and less benefits.

With big money including “corporations as people,” controlling the legislative process representing the people of your district is a dream.

The only communication I receive from my legislator is a reply from a staff person telling me why my representative disagrees with my position or suggestion, if I receive even that. I have been told by my representative that I just don’t understand how the legislative process works! Oh but I understand all to well.

Let’s take a look just some of the wasted time spent by our elected lawmakers in Lansing shall we.

Here in 2014 while our legislators were “in session” Senator Rick Jones (R) got into a facebook exchange with the president of the Michigan Open Carry organization over the Remington Gun manufacturer building a plant in Alabama bringing that state over 2,000 jobs.

Looks to me like our legislators have way to much time on their hands! If they have the time while “in session” to surf the Internet and get into debates we need a part-time legislature.

Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley Led State Officials in taking the Legislative Polar Plunge

Raising money for charity is an admirable cause but not on taxpayer time. If any Michigan worker were to do this as an employee at their work place do you really think their employer would go for it?

I don’t think so and they would be looking for a new job! Our elected officials are elected to serve all Michigan citizens and not just one special group.

This bipartisan group of legislators had a swimming pool brought in and filled with warm water to take this plunge in front of the Capitol building in Lansing. Some wore suits, some wore costumes such as superman and one was dressed as a German-Austrian with a stein full of beer. Keep in mind this was at 3:00 in the afternoon while “in session.”

Khan celebrated the passage by taking the podium Tuesday while wearing a black eye patch and saying, “It’s time, and now recognized, that the state of Michigan acknowledges this holiday and grants it the recognition it truly deserves.” Kahn pointed out that Michigan is the Great Lakes state and should support and promote “worthy maritime initiatives.”

Yet Another Government Boondoggle M-1 Rail Line ‘on the Wrong Track’ for Michigan Taxpayers

The Republicans with the Republican controlled legislature in Lansing is passing legislation more in line with the Democrat Party! The Grand Old Party is supposed to stand for a more conservative stand on issues. They are supposed to stand for and believe that the federal government should not play a big role in people’s lives. Most Republicans favor lower taxes and less government spending on social programs. They are supposed to stand for and believe in less government intervention in business and the economy. Not the case here in Michigan!

Our current Republican Governor and his counterparts within the Republican controlled legislature in Lansing has proven the exact opposite of the stated stand above they do not adhere to that ideology. Higher taxation, more regulation and bigger government involvement and intervention in business and the economy at the cost to taxpayers has further proven they are on the wrong track for Michigan’s taxpaying citizens and the Republican Party’s stated mission.

In January 2013, with a $25 million (taxpayer funded) U.S.. Department of Transportation grant under the guise of economic development and the proposed 45 permanent positions for Detroit Department of Transportation workers this project has moved forward. With all the “secrecy” surrounding the Michigan Economic Development Authority (MEDC) and their non-transparency no telling how much other taxpayer funds will be funneled to this project!

We taxpayers have been to this dance before. One look at the projections made when the Detroit People Mover was proposed should send up huge “red flags” to the taxpayers of Michigan. The M-1 Rail Line will eventually be donated to the Regional Transit Authority, officials said. Governor Snyder’s 2014 executive supplemental budget calls $2 million “taxpayer dollars” from the general fund to be allocated to the Regional Transit Authority. How much more of Michigan taxpayers’ dollars will be wasted only time will tell. The M-1 Rail Line is expected to serve 6,000 riders a day initially and eventually grow to 10,000. See People Mover.

The Detroit People Mover opened in 1987 at the time of planning; the system was projected to have a ridership of 67,700 daily. In it’s first year, an average of 11,000 riders used the People Mover each day. The Mover costs $12 million annually in city and “state subsidies” to run. So, all Michigan taxpayers who never have or never will use this system pays for the few who do use it. In 2006, the Mover filled less than 10 percent of its seats! The daily ridership 7,083 – Annual ridership 2,328,084 (FY 2011).

Michigan Senate OKs $100M plan to repair damaged roads, fill potholes and taxpayer funded RTA Start Up cost.

The supplemental budget includes: nearly $20 million for Harper and Hutzel hospitals, and $2 million in start-up costs for the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan among other carve out’s to other entity’s.

Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, said passage was crucial for many departments in the state. If our legislators in Lansing would just wake up and open their eye’s they would clearly see that by abolishing the “failed” quasi government entity the business buddy favorite MEDC that would supply the much needed funds that these state departments so desperately need. Michigan House approves regional transit authority
Senate Bill 911, which allows for the collection of new vehicle registration fees to fund the RTA, also passed through the House by a vote of 57-50. Earlier on Thursday, the House had taken action only to pass SB 909, the RTA enabling legislation.

Detroit News Report falls short on Michigan’s Road Fund Money Allocation Problem

Michigan ranks dead last in the nation when it comes to its per capita spending on its roads and bridges, according to a report citing U.S. Census Bureau data. Is it because Michiganders don’t pay a high enough gas tax, or have our legislators been re-directing our road tax dollars elsewhere?

Michigan has the 5th highest Gasoline Tax in the nation, only Democrat controlled CA, NY, HI, CT are higher! Michigan’s gas excise tax is 19 cents per gallon. Michigan also collects sales taxes and an environmental regulation tax for a whopping grand total of 39.4 cents per gallon.

Michigan legislators have been stealing, robbing and shifting “our” road fund monies for years! Now that the kitty is bone dry they have the gull to suggest “we taxpayers” pony up by accepting a gas tax and vehicle registration fee increases. Article continues below the picture.

Michigan legislative Transportation and Infrastructure committee chairs Wayne Schmidt (R) House and Tom Casperson (R) Senate would serve their constituents and all Michigan motorist well by pushing legislation that would outlaw any further diversions of Gasoline Tax monies from roads, bridges and infrastructure. Unfortunately these two seem more concerned about “Horse Trading” with politically well connected real estate developers.

There is a clear pattern of history here of transferring “stealing” our road tax dollars for other unspecified state spending projects by our elected officials. And our legislators have the gull to propose new taxes on the citizens of Michigan as to repair our roads! Just say no to any new road taxes!

Republican Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville gave a legislative update to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce on Friday, January 10 2014. When he was through giving this update he opened up the floor for questions.

The very first question asked from a chamber member was, there is a lot of talk about a gas tax increase and vehicle registration fee increases coming out of Lansing will we be seeing this in 2014.

Mr. Richardville responded that we will see some sort of “re-alignment” in the gas tax structure but not until after the 2014 elections! Hmmm…I would say that is code word for “yes” we will see a gas tax and vehicle registration fee increase and you can take that to the banksters who donate to their campaign coffers!

2003 “Forgive” Mackinac Bridge Authority Taxpayer Loan

At a time when the state is struggling to repair its crumbling roads, this bill and the others in the Mackinac Bridge bill package would take more than $5 million away from repairing Michigan’s roads and bridges. Further, the bills in this package would forgive a combined debt of over $65 million owed to the state (we the taxpayers) in restricted funds that are used to fix our roads.”

Fast forward to 2014 and guess what Michigan taxpayers “the chickens have come home to roost” and you Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayers of Michigan are now on the hook for fixing this problem perpetrated on the taxpayers of Michigan by the very “thieves” we have elected to serve us!

HB 4627 (H-1) would amend Section 7 of 1952 PA 214 (the Mackinac Bridge Authority’s authorizing statute) the bill would forgive certain “advances” made to the Mackinac Bridge Authority in the Motor Fuel Tax Act – effectively from the Michigan Transportation Fund (MTF).

As of September 30, 2002, there remained an unpaid balance of $53.2 million associated with this advance. Subsection 5 of the bill indicates that this advance is repaid or forgiven effective March 1, 2003.

House Bill 5073 diverts this money to other state spending that was Signed into law by then Gov. Jennifer Granholm on November 3, 2009.

CENSURE RESOLUTION

Presented by the duly elected Michigan Republican Party Precinct Delegates, to the policy sub-committee of the Michigan Republican Party for careful consideration.

WHEREAS, the MIGOP is a diverse group of Grassroots Leaders, made up of duly elected Precinct Delegates, their elected Representatives and appointees, and Republican Representatives Duly elected to various National, State, and Local Offices, and;

WHEREAS, as Michigan Republican Party leaders, we elect the RNC Representatives, The State Committee Members, and the Party Chairman/Woman, who help us to set the party’s vision, communicate this vision, and enable our fellow grassroots supporters to implement this vision, and;

WHEREAS, the Michigan Republican Precinct Delegates are the foot soldiers, and the key point of communication with the citizens in their respective neighborhoods, communicating the party vision to the voters, and representing the citizens to the party, and:

WHEREAS, the Michigan Republican Precinct Delegates work united for a common goal, to elect Principled candidates in local, state and national elections, who hold and communicate the Principles set forth in the Party Platform which should be in line with our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and;

WHEREAS, the Michigan Republican Delegates work to convey our message of adherence to the principles set forth in the RNC Platform, our state and federal Constitution and;

WHEREAS, the members, donors and duly elected precinct delegates expect that our leadership not only provide the tools for success, but to adhere to the principles outlined within the RNC platform, State and Federal Constitution and Bill of Rights, and do not abuse the position of leadership therein, and;

WHEREAS, the Michigan Republican Party chairman, Robert Schostak, has failed to advance certain planks of our RNC platform or has upheld contradictory and unconstitutional planks within the RNC platform, and;

WHEREAS, Chairman Schostak has, though his family business, financially supported Democrat candidates for public office, and;

WHEREAS, Chairman Schostak has, on more than one occasion, abused his position for personal financial gain, or to avoid financial loss cited by two separate articles charging that 1) The Traverse City Cherryland Mall bank loan and his subsequent abuse of power to influence a retroactive piece of legislation, passed by a Republican controlled Michigan legislature and signed by Republican Governor Snyder which saved his company, Schostak Bros. over $2 million. 2) The construction of a new building in downtown Detroit which will house one tenant, Meridian Health, a company that will oversee the individuals now covered through passage of HB 4714 (Medicaid expansion and the lynch pin to Obamacare) which the majority of the duly elected precinct delegates repudiated in 2013 and whose concerns through multiple countrywide and district resolutions where ignored by our elected officials and Chairman Schostak, and;

WHEREAS, Chairman Schostak was in support of the Romney/Ginsburg rules changes offered during the 2012 RNC National Convention which would effectively stifle the voices of the duly elected precinct delegates. He was observed during said convention encouraging the Michigan delegation to drown out the voices of National Convention Delegates calling for a roll call vote, with shouts of “USA-USA”. These rules changes were adopted despite no evidence of a clear 2/3 majority as required in Robert’s Rules of Order. Chairman Schostak recently voted to uphold the rules changes adopted at the RNC winter meetings held in January of 2014 in Boston, and;

WHEREAS, Chairman Schostak, by multiple accounts, may have abused his position during the 2012 State Convention, to influence the district chairs to fill in vacant proxies with his supporters, thus altering the “raw vote” total. By multiple accounts, his opponent in fact won the “raw vote” of duly elected state convention delegates.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the duly elected Michigan Republican Precinct Delegates do hereby reaffirm their support for the RNC Platform, both the State and Federal Constitution and Bill of Rights while maintaining and insisting upon an unyielding adherence by leadership whom we have elected, to maintain ethical conduct during their tenure, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the duly elected Michigan Republican Precinct Delegates, due to the ongoing abuses listed within this resolution as well as concerns over abuses not yet seen or understood, as well as an overall failure to unite the party, calls for the MRP policy sub-committee to adopt and present to the delegation of duly elected state committee members of the MRP, a resolution of censure against MRP chairman Robert Schostak, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution should be presented to each MIGOP district chair for distribution and to Governor Snyder.
