Companies Leaving Michigan – “Comeback State Fantasy of Fiction”

1 comback-forbes-on-snyder The list continues to grow as companies are leaving the state closing their doors or filing for bankruptcy. The rhetoric coming out of Lansing doesn’t match the reality. People are still struggling to find full time employment as to make ends meet for themselves and their families and the bad news continues.

The signs are not good all around our state and businesses will go where they feel they can best prosper and it’s not here in Michigan. When you have third world country roads because our legislators continue to “steal” our road fund dollars for other state spending purposes plus the fact so many municipalities and school districts are going under emergency managers what else can we expect.

Below is just a very small sample of companies that have left and we are not counting the ones that have either went out of business or have filed for bankruptcy protection. Some have merged with other businesses as to try and keep afloat (ACO & Ace Hardwares) but with the direction our legislators are taking the state it’s just a matter of time till they to will fail. A1 ACO_Ace_Hardware_320_240

By giving huge tax breaks to big corporations all for corporate campaign donations to those we elect to serve us “We the People” (under the guise of economic development and job creation) and leaving the small business owners to fend for themselves while balancing these favorable tax breaks on the backs of the working middle class, poor and small business owners it’s a recipe for failure. 3 PulteGroup

Baker Pig Farm – Bundy Cattle Ranch “Government Out Of Control”

What happens when an overreaching state or federal government entity hassles a former military veteran just trying to make a living for his family? They use the power of big government as to shut down the family farm. bakerpigs

My fellow citizens of Michigan and around these United States this has to and must stop and stop now! Just look at what is going on in Nevada with that cattle farmer as but another example.

Politicians at both the state and federal levels and in this case are the ones that have gone “hog wild” aka big government out of control.

The two cases Mark Baker of Bakers Green Acres and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources along with Cliven Bundy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management bring to light the need for a less intrusive government at both state and federal levels.

If attorney general Bill Shuette’s office wins this appeal it will have an adverse effect on all small business family hog farmers, including Baker and Hunting preserves in Michigan. When you have special interest and lobbyist such as the Michigan Pork Producers Association dictating public policy through our elected officials in this state “Michigan Citizens we have a Problem. Cliven Bundy

It’s our state and it’s our country and “We the People” are supposed to be in charge! It’s high time that “we” put a stop to this and the only way I know is to “vote them all out” of office and elect constitutional minded representatives who will shrink the size and scope of this overblown big government and strictly adhere to the constitution.

The fact of the matter this isn’t about Democrats or Republicans it’s about both that are a huge part of the problem. If we continue to fall for their game of one political party is better than the other we are doomed.

I would argue that both major parties have become just one in the same battling in public that they are different while in fact they are political allies behind the scenes that battle for power and control as to guide “their” agenda and not ours or what’s best for state and country.

Detroit City Airport to get Michigan Taxpayers “Bailout” Too

Detroit City Airport to get $28.5 Million Taxpayer Money in Revised Bankruptcy Plan Detroit City Airport Grave Yard

The fleecing of Michigan taxpayers money continues with revised bankruptcy plan. The $28.5 million earmarked in Detroit emergency manager Kevyn Orr’s revised restructuring plan would also set aside money for a study of the airport’s role in its east-side neighborhood.

The money would come from the city’s anticipated bankruptcy settlement and the total could go as high as $40 million according to some reports. The city’s general fund has subsidized the airport in recent years because its revenues “have fallen far short of expenses,” Orr’s plan says.

This is on and above the $350 Million “bailout” proposed by Governor Rick Snyder in which the Republican controlled legislature is currently working on about a dozen Bills in Lansing in regard to this “bailout.” Detroit Bankruptcy

In 2013, the city’s general fund contributed $300,000 to fund the airport’s operations. That contribution increased to $600,000 in 2014. Some would say why not privatize the airport as to take the burden off Michigan taxpayers.

While that is a novel idea the problem with that is anyone that would purchase this airport would most likely receive taxpayer funded subsides through the “failed” MEDC under the guise of economic development and job creation.

While reading the comments on this article this one really hit home! “The city needs a jewel of a landing facility for all those revitalization fairies arriving on their little pink flying unicorns.” Wasn’t this the airport of choice for Kawme and his corrupt buddies who robbed the city of Detroit and caused this bankruptcy?

The city is also exploring whether to lease or sell the Coleman A. Young Municipal Airport. Until a new strategy is decided, the city will continue to subsidize and operate the airport because it doesn’t want to trigger a requirement to repay prior Federal Aviation Administration grant money, Orr’s office said.

Republican Controlled Legislature Drafting Bills for Detroit “Bailout”

State legislators are working on about a dozen bills that will use $350 million taxpayer money that Governor Rick Snyder has proposed. We taxpayers “bailout” the auto companies, banks and Wall Street now we are adding cities to the list of too big to fail. Who is next on this list the insurance companies?  1-Bailout-rick_snyder

You just know whenever you hear politicians talk about using taxpayer money in this fashion or when they talk about increasing our taxes more often than not it becomes a reality. As I have previously reported about the talk of a gas tax and vehicle registration fee increases this to will come to fruition.

The thing about the gas tax and vehicle registration fee increases are two fold: One our elected legislators have been stealing our road fund monies for years for other unspecified state spending purposes playing the shell game of robbing Peter to pay Paul. The other is because of possible repercussions here in the 2014 elections they will not bestow these increases on we taxpayers till after the elections.

When will we taxpaying citizens of Michigan come to the reality that we can no longer allow any one Political Party to hold power and control for more than one term? What we really need is a viable Constitutional third Party that represents “We the People” instead of the lobbyist and special interest groups who have a stranglehold on our elected leaders in both of the two major parties. 4 Bailout kwame-kilpatrick-award-2

How Detroit Went Broke Taxpayers of Michigan now on the Hook
The Wall Street types who applauded former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s financial acumen following his 2005 deal to restructure city pension debt should consider this: The numbers prove that his plan devastated the city’s finances and was a key factor that drove Detroit to file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy in July.

The State of Michigan and its legislators are also contributors in the blame. Lansing politicians reduced Detroit’s state-shared revenue by 48% from 1998 to 2012, withholding $172 million from the city, according to state records. We are currently seeing the results of the cuts to revenue sharing in municipalities across the state. These cuts were part of the very favorable big business buddies reform of the business tax in 2012.

1. Health care – Control health care and you control the people. (ObamaCare/SnyderCaid)

2. Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3. Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4. Gun Control – Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.

5. Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)

6. Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school. The implementation of the “common core” educational standards fly’s right in the face of this step!

7. Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools. Also attack religious points of view as being discriminatory.

8. Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take taxes. Divide people by race, sexual orientations and religious views.

Michigan’s Fictitious Budget Surplus, Our Roads, What to do with a so-called $1.3 Billion Surplus?

The projected multi-year $1.3 billion dollar surplus will give lawmakers something to ponder. While the governor has proposed yet again taxing the citizenry, us common folks for the $1.2 Billion he says are needed for our roads. Lawmakers at Work Pothole Money

The legislature, bless the hearts was so kind in allocating a paltry $215 Million out of this $1.3 Billion so-called budget surplus (Taxpayer Money) to repair the potholes that quit frankly are beyond repair. So I guess that is to tide over the problem till after the elections so they can pass a gas tax and vehicle registration fee increase without immediate election year repercussions!

So while Governor Snyder and the Republican controlled legislature gave Big Business a huge tax break and balancing that loss of revenue on the backs of we lowly citizens we can look forward to these proposed tax increases that will be coming after the 2014 elections. Vote wisely my friends! Brooks Patterson in Pothole

Snyder Aims to use Potholes as Leverage for “Gas Tax” and “Vehicle Registration Fee” increases to get Road Fund Money
As I have reported earlier that Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville told the Monroe Chamber that there will be some sort of re-alignment but not until after the elections!

Now this reported in the Detroit News, some Republicans in the House’s majority party say any long-term road funding fix may have to wait until after the November election during the lame-duck session when term-limited lawmakers may feel more comfortable voting for a tax increase.

Now I have a novel idea how about we make sure they lose and don’t get the reward for raising our taxes yet again! If we don’t the message will be heard loud and clear in Lansing that it’s OK to keep raising our taxes instead of cutting the size and scope of an over bloated government.

While raising my family in Allen Park I watched as my neighboring city Lincoln Park that tried unsuccessfully for several years in a row to get its citizens to pass a tax for their piss poor roads. Every year the citizens said hell no cut government until they let the roads get so deteriorated they finally gave in.

But guess what, they used the money for other purposes instead of fixing the roads and the roads continued to deteriorate. This is exactly what Lansing has been doing for years with our road fund monies transferring that money for other unspecified spending purposes. It's Just Politics

Now that the road fund has been run dry they have the audacity to come to us taxpayers as to replenish that fund. If we allow them to levy us with yet more taxes in this regard we are complete and total fools.

Oh really? Who did this poll? Who did they call? How did they spin the questions? Did Snyder retain the services of this polling company? When is a bailout not a bailout but rather a settlement? Bailout Detroit

I personally have not talked to anyone who is in favor of this “Bailout” or have I seen support for this on any social media web sites! Detroit Turns Bankruptcy Into Wall St. Vs. Main St.

A State Bank: The Solution for Michigan Economic Stability and Prosperity By Dan Osterman

(Comment: by R Al Bain, Our legislators in Lansing continue to advocate and promote capital cronyism through the “Friends and Family” program along with the “Business Buddies” fund that’s not a good return on investment for the taxpayers of Michigan and only benefits the aforementioned and politicians in a pay to play scheme.)  Bank top left

When it comes to the economy, government does have a necessary and proper role to protect a functioning free market and the rights of individuals to pursue their economic interests, maintenance of public infrastructure, and the undisturbed flow of commerce across borders.

Essential to these functions is to support a banking system that seeks to serve the community, act as an incubator for businesses, and to protect the system from those who attempt to abuse it.

The actions of the Federal Reserve System, in concert with the Wall Street bankers, has failed in its stated purpose, while repeatedly stealing the wealth of Americans; which has been felt no greater than in Michigan and in particular, Detroit.

If the Michigan legislature is serious about “reinventing” the state and reviving Detroit, their first priority should be a healthy and expanding community banking system, which can only be achieved by the establishment of a publicly-owned state bank. Bank middle right

There is no better model of success than the state of North Dakota; having the only state bank in the country. During the 2009 financial crisis, the Bank of North Dakota (BND) not only provided a dividend to the state but was responsible for North Dakota achieving the lowest unemployment in the nation, while maintaining the most community banks per capita; without a single bank failure.

In order for Main Street businesses to survive and begin to rebuild the lost wealth of Michiganians, a local community banking system will have to play a lead role; and a publicly-owned state bank, is the lynchpin to success. In a 2012 Dallas FED report by Gunther and Klemme it was stated, “Community banks are not only a major source of credit for job-creating businesses but also a stable one.”

A Michigan economic recovery will only be possible when the majority of the money which circulates through its economy, stays in Michigan, and is no longer siphoned away by Wall Street.

Leveling the Playing Field – Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Report
Financial reform must be redirected. The government’s financial safety net for the biggest banks should cover only their essential banking activities and their role in the payments system. Once that occurs, market discipline can reassert itself, and all institutions—large and small—can compete on a more level playing field.

Deal to Eliminate Personal Property Tax that Benefits Big Business and Governments is a Bad Idea

Just Another (Shell Game) or (Tax Shift) by our Elected Officials in Lansing

This looks like yet another tax shift (shell game) coming out of Lansing to me. Snyder and our Republican controlled legislature realize that the citizens of Michigan will not understand this legislation that continues to benefit big business, governments and not the taxpayers. The citizens, taxpayers and “voters” of Michigan have had enough of their spin and lies. Deal on Equipment

Be honest Lansing, eliminating the personal property tax means more money in the pockets of their big business buddy donors and corporate leaders. Heads of these companies will not buy new equipment, expand their business or hire full-time employees. They will continue the trend of part-time employees with no benefits and watch their personal income continue to rise. Empire building at taxpayer expense.

Our elected officials have lost sight of the fact government doesn’t have any money they have our money and this is evident by this statement. “No one will lose a dime,” and there is no tax increase whatsoever.” ~  Sen. Brandenburg is the chair of the Finance Committee. Brandenburg predicts the general fund money “lost” by the state will be replaced by more vigorous economic growth. Yeah and I’m going to hit the lottery too!

Does this “deal” end the taxpaying citizens’ personal property tax? I don’t think so! Couldn’t the very same benefit that they are preparing to give their big business buddies and governments create the same results they claim by eliminating our personal property tax? All this extra disposable income realized by the citizens would be pumped into local economy’s providing a “free market” stimulus to our economy.

Note: The point I’m trying to make here is that while I agree that business should not have to pay this “tax” the state of Michigan government will chose to make up this lost revenue not by eliminating government but by replacing this by taxing the people as to make it up.
